Tropical islands facing massive water shortages
2/17/2010
You’d think in the middle of the ocean, water shortages wouldn’t be a problem. Not so. Islands like Hawaii, Trinidad and Tobago and Antigua normally experience enough rainfall to supply residents easily with plenty of water. Currently, however, they’re experiencing droughts. In Hawaii, rain-catching systems are dried up, forcing residents to have water delivered. Conditions are so bad in Antigua that utility companies there aren’t sure they have enough to service the country past the end of the month. http://www.trinidadexpress.com/index.pl/article_news?id=161595989 http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100215/ap_on_re_us/us_drought_water_deliveries_1
