The impact of water through a mother’s eyes

With the support of The Water Project, The Water Trust partnered with Evelyn Namubiru and the community of Kinyara in rural Uganda to ensure children have the building blocks of a healthy life — access to clean water and a sanitary, hygienic environment. More than a year after construction of the well, we visited Evelyn to hear what had changed.

“Before the water point was built, I spent at least two hours per day collecting water for the family – I have eight children.  Getting water now only takes an hour a day – I can spend more time on other things, and the children don’t suffer from diarrhea and other diseases as much.  I used to have to go with them to the clinic every week, now it’s only a couple of times a month.

In the future, I would like to extend my farm to grow beans and sunflowers.  If I had another two acres, that would be good –  with the additional income from those crops, I could buy clothes for the children.”

With your support, we can partner with more women like Evelyn to provide the building blocks of a healthy life.
